Tmr's an exciting day. why? you may ask..well, it's the Animangaki event organized by the Sunway University College Anime Club (SUAC)^^ This is the second time SUAC has had something like this happening in their campus (i think) and i hope this year's gonna be a blast. I'm looking forward to it and fingers crossed that it does not disappoint!

Animangaki 2009
Date: 27-28 June 2009 (Saturday and Sunday)
Time: 10am until 6pm
Venue: Sunway University College Multi Purpose Hall, 4th floor

There will be loads of activities such as a karaoke competition, an art competition,, mini omatsuri, movie screenings, DDRs!, live J-Rock bands and what interest me the most, cosplay competitions whee! Wowwee all the hype that's being created here just by mentioning the line-up of activities..can't wait!

RM 8 admission fee. I'm like thinking what to wear now. But horr I don't have anything fancy to wear darn it! -_- oh ya, to bring my dslr. better charge the battery now before I forget^^!

oh if you don't know what's cosplay..cosplay (short for costum roleplay) is where the participant tries to emulate a certain anime character or even an idea using very elaborate costumes and accessories. very popular in japan and now the cosplay virus is streaming fast into many countries including malaysia. let me show you a few successful attempts in cosplay that i've seen online.

some cosplayers do splurge a lot of money into making their costumes a spot on replica of their favourite anime's outfit

tifa lockhart of final fantasy

sexy genjo sanzo (the priest who smokes and shoots a gun) - this is picture perfect!

from one of my favourite anime, gensomaden saiyuki

now those images you saw just now..well that's cosplay at its best. by professional cosplayers, mind you. who really dedicated their time and fortune into their costumes, make up and hair. some even undergo plastic surgery in effort to look much closer to the anime they idolize-_-! now that's a bit too much la but wth, its them not me. let's have a laugh or two as the next few cosplayers try their best to look like their favourite anime.

seriously la dude. does your mind work the right way? a man in sailormoon's outfit. now that's a laugh=D *puke*

inuyasha used to be a favourite. but after i saw this black version of inuyasha, OMG la. just OMG *angeline bangs head against the wall*

speechless. enough said.

off to play sorority life a bit and off to bed. good night!

p/s I'm getting a new car. Still thinking of the colour=p

p/s/s Good news. Ivan and I just bought a Playstation 3. Bad news. We are broke now. Not enough cash to throw in a Guitar Hero 3. pooooooor.

p/s/s/s thanks for the shirt! am wearing it now=)

angel out.

Hey peter chao! i think you're awesome=)

get a grip

Have someone called you a bitch in the face? I had someone i dislike call me that and she got trashed double time. Well maybe not in the face, malaysians very shy in nature one=p stupid. they will gossip behind your back and finally stamp! Imma bitch whee! but here finally, someone is bitchy enough to say it as it really is.

talk to the hand bc the face isn't listenin'

this is lecture 1, bitchology.

you shout "gimme an old bitch!" and you'll get quality whiskey. nice^^

When you stand up for myself and your beliefs, they call you a bitch.

When you stand up for those who you love, they call you a bitch.

When you speak your mind, think your own thoughts or do things your own way, they call you a bitch.

Being a bitch means you won't compromise what's in your heart. It means you live your life YOUR way. It means you won't allow anyone to step on you.

When you refuse to tolerate injustice and speak against it, you are defined as a bitch.

The same thing happens when you take time for myself instead of being everyone's maid, or when selfish.

It means you have the courage and strength to allow yourself to be who you truly am and won't become anyone else's idea of what they think you SHOULD be.

I am outspoken, opinionated and determined. I want what I want and there is nothing wrong with that! So try to stomp on me, just try to douse my inner flame, try to squash every ounce of beauty I hold within me. You won't succeed. And if that makes me a bitch, so be it. I embrace the title and am proud to bear it.

If being labelled a beetch is too much for you to handle, by all means - be meek and submissive. That alone gets you no where, you boring wall flower!

Because really, being a bitch means

B - Babe
I - In
T - Total
C - Control of
H - Herself

and here's another one

B - Beautiful
I - Individual
T - That
C - Can
H - Handle Anything!

So guys, if you can't do something right, get a woman to do it=p Random. There are strict regulations on what can be printed on a wine label. A wine label can't have anything provocatice, offensive and nothing 'dirtay'. This is where 'Bitch' created the hype of it all. Bitch is an Australian Grenache produced by Chris Ringland of Three Rivers. well well looks like the label-laws have relaxed a little. Now the bottle is really chic! And the back of the label is crazy funny; it says bitch 77 times followed by 'some more'.

chic bitch

The awesome thing is that it comes in 5 different flavours - ruby, cherry, strawberry, a hint of spice and chocolate. Amazing wine at $12 a bottle? Another reason why you should purchase an entire collection if not for the bitchin' label.

Let's celebrate beetches. Cheers!

on a sad note.

It was a shocker when one of my friends sms-ed me that michael jackson was dead. what an unfortunate passing. He is said to be in a coma when he arrived in UCLA medical centre (6 mins drive from his home) and finally died from a cardiac arrest (5:21am local time) after which the medical team spent 1 hour in effort to revive him. the radio played MJ's hits back to back as a tribute to the king of pop. even with one too many filed cases of child molestation, extortion and conspiracy, it is without a doubt that MJ is an extraordinary person, one of the greatest entertainer for all time. despite all the fame, he had lived a life filled with tribulations which brought him to his downfall in the end.

I don't want to say too much on this but here is my favourite song performed by MJ.

this video makes you realize all the terrible things humans like us are doing to mother earth. shame on us.

gone but never forgotten,

sorority life whee!

i come back from my day job and find myself socializing for hours through the pages of Sorority Life. this spells trouble oh no!

hello there. name's chrissy o (short for christianne odette), a level 10 heiress and i represent everything you'll find in a true sorority princess. watch out beetches. you wouldn't want to mess with a sister. hold that double with chrissy o.

feel like you've lost your chinese roots? don't worry, i feel that way all the time. In the cafe where I work, I have chinese customers asking koh goh min lak mou? min lak what the hell is that la. Just ask "Got chili? No chili ah OK! gimme one flied lice." there easy peasy.

let peter chao show you how to be more chinese and truth be told, i watch jackie chan movies while snacking on hello kitty chocolates and cook scrambled eggs like a motherf&$@ing chef ramsay. so yeah, that makes me more chinese than ever.

so represent your true self. true home town china. shit this guy makes me laugh!

angel out.

looking back

These are what I find interesting in my recent vacation to Bali. Random? I don't think so.

1 Scary creatures of the day

the moment you reach the airport, you are greeted by a life-sized green monster at the entrance. like it's ready to pounce on you for entering denpasar in the first place. These statues are created based on the creatures or giants found in classical balinese lore. So do expect lots of fangs, bulging eyes, fancy extravagant yet traditional outfits and a scary hairdo.

they are everywhere. interesting statues but scary to the eye. my eyes at least=p

2 the great balancing act

Balinese women have an inherent ability to carry huge burden on their heads. Sometimes I wonder whether my skull would have don a fracture if I attempt to carry something THAT heavy on my head. FAIL. FAIL!

3 surf's up, sale's on!

surf brands on sale, sale, SALE. terlampau mampau tapau charsiewpau.

4 konichiwa, colonel sanders.

Interesting thing here is that Colonel Sanders decides to go oriental in Bali. I mean they have oriental bentos for crying out loud! Err if it's Japan, i'd understand. but in bali? i dun get it.

KFC coffee. enough said. you don't find this in malaysia. they even have a corner beside the main restaurant serving caffeine loaded cuppies ala starbucks.

5 my first and it ain't gonna be my last

Next in line are Padang food places, also called rumah makan, whose origin can be traced back to the land of Sumatra. Muslim-run warungs never serve alcohol and often run 24 hours a day.

You will be served a plate of white rice and then asked to choose from the pyramids of food displayed behind the shop window. In our case here, the food items were laid out on our table for us to choose from. This is of course much more expensive but, it makes the meal all the more enjoyable because of a larger variety of side dishes. So share and you'll get to taste everything, everything that makes nasi padang a unique gastronomical delight.

As often is the case, simple vegetable items are free, the valuable items being fish, meat, tofu, tempe and potato cakes. Once you approach the cash register after eating, the bill will be added up. The staff often desperately trying to remember what you ate. In our situation however, he only needs to look which of the dish plates have been touched or eaten out from.

FYI Many places call themselves warungs for tax purposes. In Bali, simply labelling your business a restoran means higher taxation. A good example of high end warung that is really a VERY popular restoran is Warung Made in Seminyak, Kuta. A main course might cost you 50,000rp and up. yup pricey.

6 need a retreat? spa heavens everywhere!

spa centers are aplenty in bali. i mean they could be the number one job provider for the balinese people, right? i'm just assuming. but hey, better for us tourists.

7 hey, can i find this in the world market?

i randomly bought this out of curiosity of how it tastes like. When you leave a bag of Twisties out open for hours under poor storage conditions, you know how those fries become - it loses its crunchiness. Same goes for this Balinese snack. I don't know if its supposed to be like that or have I bought it in its expiry state. Anyway, the wafers have a sweet, nutty flavour. Rice, corn, potato? the surface has hardened caramel on it..as seen above. hmm whatever it is. I'm quite fond of it=)

8 picture perfect

There are many paintings on sale along the sidewalks of towns or tourist attractions that I have visited. Ubud is the center of arts. Majority of the art for sale traditionally express religious and mythological ideas but there are also contemporary paintings that represent nature, daily lives of the Balinese people or even tourists.

Art is abundant and *ahem* cheap. Anyone can take home a vision of Bali at a reasonable price=) FYI some of the best paintings ever produced were by the Balinese or the foreigners who found their physical and artistic home in Bali.

9 throw those corns my way! I'd eat them all ngom ngom ngom

the sweetcorn is a must try! they grill the corn under charcoal fire till it looks a little blackened on the sides from the grill. Then they brush on the butter and a thin layer of sweet chili sauce which gives the sweetcorn a spicy contrast that is oh so delightful=p i regret not having more back in kuta. me want moooreeeeeee

BUT second to that is the jagung mutiara from cameron highlands yummeeeee that one i can easily get^^

10 gallop away in style

One should experience riding an old Balinese horse cart called Dokar. It's a slow ride but the night ride i had in the town of Kuta was fun. It gives an overview of everything up and happening in the town or city - if you're lucky, the rider might retell the history of a monument or two. It's interesting to hear of it especially from a local who knows the place so well. beats having a guide book on your lap.

p/s i hope the letter of placement by KKM comes by later. much much later. now it feels like the holidays have been cut short!

sink or swim,
A

The Queen arrives in

SINGAPORE!

my special thank yous goes to Caroline whom without her I wouldn't be soaking my feet in GaGa gooness in singapore, Hotlink, Hitz.fm for choosing Caroline as the lucky winner and SingTel who spent millions to fly Lady GaGa here to perform in a private showcase in conjuction with their AMPed launch; a kept promise for AMPed users to exclusive AMPed-users-only concerts thankyouberrymuch

In total, ten of us made it to the showcase. I didn't have time to put on ENOUGH makeup because all I remember was a mad rush from Queensway shopping centre to our hotel, getting ready in like less than ten minutes and being in the bus asap in order to beat the queue outside the Dome.

This is the Dome at Merchant Loop. Trust me, it's not this small. This part here is the VIP entrance. yup we got VIP treatment babeh! What do you expect from a horizontal view eh? The Dome actually covers a huge area and apparently this itself cost lots of moolah because the tent was imported from Dubai.

It's VJ Utt guys! OMG I can't believe we got a snapper with him=p This was how we asked him to take a photo with us. I'll try to stay true to the content of the conversation though it might be altered here and there but hey, blame my memory.

Angel: Excuse me. Are you VJ Utt? =D
Utt: No. But many people says that I do look like him.
*Carol and I looked at each other*
Carol: Oh realllyyy? In a tone that says you bluffer!
Utt: Yeah.
Angel: We know who you are! Anyway, my name is Angeline and this is Caroline. We are like fans of yours. So would you mind taking a photo with us?
Utt in a face that says you got me!: Alright. Not a problem=p
Angeline passes the camera to the nearest person she could find, strut a pose and is now drooling at the result.

To recall back that night Carol, i think we acted like a bunch of overexcited kiddies in a crowded playground. Screaming around and camwhoring away. Jeebus! What would those singaporeans think of us?

upon entry, we got free redbulls yeah. lemme tell you it was crowded..packed! like sardines in a can. soon after we were separated from our group but it's okay least carol and I got each other. we took a video whilst waiting to enter the showcase arena - if I had the time, I might edit and put it up soon=) It was then I realized how high-pitched my voice is after watching it on replay.

the emcees for the night. That deejay Young of 98.7FM got down on one knee and made a wedding proposal with a ring and all which she gamely accepts! She even wore the ring he gave to her but for how long, i dunno.

We waited for two hours but even that is not enough to douse our burning passion for her. Meanwhile we were entertained by club hits spun by a local DJ. one hour..two hour..

and screammmm! Lady GaGa rocked the Dome with Lovegame as her opening performance. Her costume was mind-blowinnnn OMG. God save me! It leaves nothing to the imagination and it was making the crowd wild! I mean her fashion sense may be eclectic but her style is uniquely hers, you don't see such originality amongst artists in the music industry anymore. They are all plastic.

By judging her first outfit, no wonder Lady GaGa wouldn't make it to Malaysia. Some loopside-minded people would BAN her. like totally.

see what i mean?

She also performed the other famous hits like Just Dance, Papparazzi, Beautiful Dirty Rich and Poker Face (my ultimate favourite!).

For Poker Face, she started off with the acoustic version of the song - thumping away on the keys of the piano. AND THEN she started lifting her leg up to play on the piano! with the right notes summore. Kill me. Just kill me. She's amazing!

sing, sing, sing-along with sing, sing, singapore

The showcase was short in time duration but it was nonetheless fantastic (40 minutes to be exact=0). Her stage presence was so strong, it made me cry. seriously. at that moment, I couldn't believe that there i was, standing there, being a few meters away from her and there she was - singing p-p-p-p-pokerface p-p-pokerface wwowweee

News is she'll be coming back to Singapore in August with a full length concert! And rest assured, she'll bring singapore down on their knees and revert us all to hardcore fans with more grrreat music whee!

Despite having VIP access to see Lady GaGa in person, the rules are: No personal photography. No autograph signing. WTH.

LADY GAGA HAS HER HAND ON MY SHOULDERS OMG

Sometimes all you have to do is just ASK. and have lots of luck and gaga-intuition in your pockets=)

Could have died and heaven wouldn't mean much,
angel

I would like to announce...

THAT I HAVE GRADUATED!

The convocation ceremony was held on the grounds of the International Medical University. I've never felt happier than this day.

The day i put on my graduation robe and cap, walked across the stage and received my hard earned degree. It is the highlight of the year and what a blessed year it has been for me.

It is a time where the achievements of students and those who have earned academic excellence are formally recognized. In other words, those who truly studied, did not cheat or steal ideas off others, were honest and did not settle for status quo grades but worked to the best of what they can be.

The best you can be when you have good friends to guide you and to lend you a helping hand when you fall.

To see the smiling faces of the ones you call your family. Both happy and proud that you have made it through towards your graduation. A rite of passage, marking one stage of a person's life to another.

4 years came, gone. and look at us now. we were far from what we used to be when we first entered the university. mature, responsible, ever ready to take on any challenge the world would place on our shoulders.

It is OUR graduation and every single one of us deserved this moment of applaude.
