you would want to watch this

Plenty of buzz has been hovering around on this film even before it made the news. What I'm talking about is Slumdog Millionaire - the movie that has received many Critics' Award for 2008, eight Oscars as of 2009 and not to mention, multiple Golden Globe nominations. In total, 64 wins and 28 nominations. That spells W.O.W. The movie totally deserves every Oscar it took home that night because it is magnifique how the director, Danny Boyle pulled together the depictions of child abuse, poverty and even the sight of a small boy drenched in faeces along with the echoing splendour of India and make all that add up into an overwhelmingly happy and heart warming experience.

Do you see the wound on the little Jamal's leg? It's the real thing. Infection-prone. Antibiotics stat!

To sum it up, it's a “feel-good” movie that many will enjoy and talk about - out of the cinema and all the way home.

I think that Dev Patel is one good-looking indian OMG

I borrowed this summary of the movie from IMDb with a few editing here and there but I think this is already well written. The story is about Jamal Malik, an 18 year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai, who is about to experience the biggest day of his life. With the whole nation watching, he is just one question away from winning a staggering 20 million rupees on India's "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" But when the show breaks for the night, police arrest him on suspicion of cheating; how could a street kid know so much? Desperate to prove his innocence, Jamal tells the story of his life in the slum where he and his brother grew up, of their adventures together on the road, of vicious encounters with local gangs, and of Latika, the girl he loved and lost. Each chapter of his story reveals the key to the answer to one of the game show's questions. Each chapter of Jamal's increasingly layered story reveals where he learned the answers to the show's seemingly impossible quizzes.

But one question remains a mystery: what is this young man with no apparent desire for riches really doing on the game show? When the new day dawns and Jamal returns to answer the final question, the Inspector and sixty million viewers are about to find out. At the heart of its storytelling lies the question of how anyone comes to know the things they know about life and love.

jai ho! jai ho!

A end credits dance sequence is the only thing Bollywood about this Indian movie made by the brits but that works as well and as entertainingly as everything else. And despite the set being in the city of gods, most of the dialogues were spoken in clear english and it makes the movie much more accessible to everyone. Splendid. I love a good movie and nice company while watching it=) Thanks, E.

I have the soundtrack to Slumdog Millionaire! yay me^^

Steamboat at the house of gaga

Hail Hitler! We're a bunch of people with different personalities but with a liking towards sick humour.

Hey peeps, please feel free to get jealous over our escapade from all the PCPs and diary writing with our successful steamboat in seremban! It was held at our place, the House of GaGa and boy, did we rock the show. It was all about food, fun and laughter the whole night. In those few hours, it felt like all was lifted off our shoulders. We should be doing more of this. BBQ at Port Dickson, Carol!

Check out our video on youtube. Love the video. Made by william. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSZEozf4ppw

Everyone is crowding over the table for their share of food. We were like so hungry. Because sharon was late to arrive. hehe

We had wine during the steamboat.

Posers alert!

My mother-in-law and grandma.

Eh, eh There's nothing else I can say

I happened to stumble upon my friend's blog and a post that caught my attention was all about versus-es. Things about priorities versus options. Finals versus holidays. PCP versus sleep. Hope versus disappoinment. The present versus the future. This versus that. Then versus now. And the final word is that life is a matter of choices and making the right ones goes a long way in making life worth living. It just made me think much about the current state of my life now..the choices that I have to consider, the sacrifices that I have to make, the regret that I have to sink my soul into and the disappointment that is imminent when wrong decisions are made. Life is all about choices..and making good ones by myself is not exactly my forte.

The other thing I love about her blog is the way she romanized the hokkien dialect in most of posts. Luckily i'm hokkien..not only do i understand what she has to say, it's hell funny when i try to read them out loud. She once told me that whenever I speak hokkien, it sounds like i'm singing -_- I'm not sure if that's good or bad. But whatever, I gave up trying to prove my hokkien roots since a long time ago.

Emo talk aside.. FYI my name is being pushed into the nomination list for prom queen of IMU Ball 2009. It's quite nice thing, you know, to have your name considered by your peers for nomination and then you start to think whether you're prom queen material and all that. Like ok this sounds so superficial what i'm saying here but hey, I can't help it! OMG if only you could dip yourself into my pensieve of thoughts will you find how much this nomination thingie is bugging me!

My friends' reasons for the nomination are various..lemme think what they told me. Oh ya! I'm such a diva to begin with (i start thinking of mariah carey and i shivered at that thought-_-), I'm bitchy enough to fight all the way for the title (like WTH?), I would kill to become prom queen (err..i doubt i'll go that far guys!), I have beauty, brains and brawn (i think i only have the brains..not the other two) and the latest comment I heard was "You're the only girl in class sporting enough to do this".  Wokey. Nice. Very nice. And like every girl attending her prom, the biggest issue is about the dress. Not just any dress. It's THE dress. And I want a dress that is the bomb. The price is also a consideration here but what the hell, throw me a gown worthy of the red carpet at the Oscars! I heard that in order to enter the finals for prom king and queen, you have to prove yourself eligible through a series of contests organized by the committee. This is the embarrassing part. THE part that i'm afraid of. That I have to PROVE myself. OMG this is just debilitating man!

...

But then again, I think i'm gonna say yes to this nomination thingie. And see where this will go. If guys want me to KILL for the title, I'm gonna do B105 proud then.

Eh mister, are you gonna make me your date for the ball or not? Clock's ticking.

Guys, tell me where can I get a blonde wig comparable to that of Lady Gaga's? If you find me a wig, I'll give you Lady Gaga on the streets of kayelle. And no, I'm not joking. I like graceful style and poise of Blair Waldorf but I also love the spunk that Lady GaGa exudes in her fashion choices. Check out her latest song titled 'Fashion'. It will be featured in the new movie 'Confessions of a Shopaholic' and lemme tell you it's addictive. IMO. This weekend will be such a bore, I tell you.

J'adore, Vivienne I really want
Gucci, Fendi and Prada
Valentino, Armani too
Madame love them Jimmy Choo

Imagine people like these out on the streets of KL? Fantabulous, i'd say.

I have 6 freaking PCPs to complete, 5 days worth of learning issues to reflect on and a long case to burn my midnight lamp. I hope my juniors have it easier the next time and not subjected to this torture and misery of semester 8.

I shall run through and admire my purchases for the day. A hairband with a corsage-like flower at the side and several earrings. Got to try them on!

Ugly doctors and cockroaches,
Seremban beef noodle and siew pau,
Pharmaceutical care plans and diaries,
Darn it, I can't wait to graduate!

p/s: From now on, don't bitch about me wearing heels in the hospital. They are called wedges, mind you. Not heels. Please give your undivided attention to those who actually make so much noice with THEIR heels. And what I wear underneath the white coat..regardless of how much thought and attention I give to my choice of attire for the day is nothing of your concern. I dress for myself without any intention of being an eye candy or as a reason for seeking admiration from others. Because whatever your viewpoints may be, I will never compromise my fashionable self despite my profession as a pharmacist. It's a lifestyle, honey. It's best you learn from someone who knows.

Cheers.

The celebration I anticipate the most each year has come and gone. And fast too. It was like "Hello, Chinese New Year!" and then, zoom "Eh, over already ah?!" WTH.

cookies and mandarin oranges on the dining table

I don't think I had much fun as I did few years back because most of my cousins have married, started their own families blah blah..No longer do we stay up late till the next morning, gambling our money away to the next door neighbours, play firecrackers and return 3 hours later to find our new year clothes drenched in sweat + dirt but with smiles of satisfaction and amusement etched across our faces,  burning lanterns and making mini bonfires around klang afterwards, tour le angpow, mandarin marathon and at the risk of suffering a week of sore throat etc etc. Things are not the same anymore but you know what, with many of my cousins now married it only means more money in my pocket so..who's complaining^^ not me.

it's steamboat monday next week! it's now something I look forward to in seremban=) we girls have cooked up a plan in organizing a steamboat session at our condo on monday! you bet there will be lots of food (we expect a company of 13 people), laughter and alcohol^^ but of course, in small amounts..you don't want pharmacists in a hangover state, walking around the wards right?

The plan is to go to the wet market right after work, get all that we need for the chefs to work on and wait for the food to be ready. The main appointed chefs are miss caroline and monsieur andrew (who dreams of becoming a chef but doesn't really understand who he ended up as a pharmacist). I will provide the entertainment so guys, do expect a Lady Gaga impersonator. Oh, so exciting this will be!

Random. I hate the state my nails are in now. It sounds unflattering but they are like yellowed from discoloration. That's the consequence of frequent wear of nail polish, girls. I am so used to changing the colors every week and I don't use subtle colours, mind you. Bold, dark colors are what I love best. Though mummy thinks it's inappropriate for someone like me. oh well. my nails not hers. I am going to try on a home remedy using just lemon and baking soda. I have tried soaking my nails in bleach and i'll say it doesn't work (even though some say it does). I'm just sharing my opinion here so don't mind me hehe.

So love my false eyelashes. Love them? Adore them! Erm dislike the fact I did not get triple A for last semester's research-based study. It's so hard to please these IMU lecturers urgh! That stupid B+ should have been an A and it'll be all perfect. But no..you had to give me a B. PLUS. Thank you so much.

And yay, li kenn is writing a blog entry of me and how much I resemble Sharpay Evans/ Ashley Tisdale. Not so sure if that's a good thing but who writes something about you everyday. It's all about The Fame, baby! If you got it, why not immerse the world in it. And no, I now do not agree with Coco Chanel on "Less is more". Coco, you haven't met Lady Gaga. Now, she's my fashion muse.
