Quattro

Welcome to club Quattro. i've been curious of this new and happening place in Avenue K since its grand opening on October 17th. The concept of embracing the four seasons in one landmark venue makes Quattro a very interesting place to be...like a haven for all nightlife seekers out there! Moreover, the name fits the concept that they are trying to project from this place..OMG perfection! love their catch phrase “A LUST FOR ALL SEASONS. 4 SEASONS. 4 CONCEPTS. 1 LOCATION”. This is without a doubt the first club of its kind not only in Malaysia, but in the world^^

It says here at http://www.clubquattro.com/ that Quattro will redefine (big expectations here!) the way you chill, dine, party and unwind at Summer Restaurant, Spring Lounge, Autumn Club and Winter Bar. Each of Quattro’s 4 concepts, namely the restaurant, the lounge, the club and the bar, will not only carry the name of each of the 4 seasons and be decorated accordingly, but they will also simulate the climates of those seasons. For instance, it will actually ‘rain’ at the Spring Lounge, ‘snow’ at the Winter Bar and so forth. sounds tempting for a visit!

so when my cousin invited me for a night out at quattro, i was already sold! Now that i've been there, i'm gonna share my opinions about that place. but they are mostly centered around the autumn club.

Once again, I've only been to the Autumn Club because if you wanna visit the other three areas of Quattro, you have to cough up more cash to pay the separate cover charges! sheesh. that really is a bummer. but no big deal. autumn club already has all the elements to give an unforgettable night out. The tunes were infectious! I don't think there was a time when I stopped dancing except of course, when photos were taken=)

The club carries a japanese theme which is like the first of its kind in Malaysia..with 'geishas' walking around in their shortened yukatas, serving drinks. it's worth a whoa but sadly, i never did spot a pretty geisha around.

The club area spans a whopping 6,000 square feet like OMG! Maybe that’s why Zouk is having an overhaul now haha^^ Big place but no dancefloor! So you've got to make do with the space you have around your table -_- And oh yeah, FYI this place is really expensive. i hung out with these friends of my cousin and they have this 'policy' that the girls in the group are not allowed to pay for anything at all! so nice la.

But don't just take on my opinions right away. You've got to head down there and get the Quattro experience yourself! A lust for the four seasons is like no other. Don't know how to get there? This is a map taken from their website. I doubt it's clear so why don't you just drop by their website instead=)

toodles.

i can't breathe well

there is one thing i don't like..and that is, i hate getting the flu! fever and cough bah. but the flu...*sniff* tissues please. it's a problem to get a breath full of air into my lungs and an even BIGGER problem when my sense of smell is like temporarily dead. If you placed a decaying corpse in front of me and asked me if it stinks, i'd probably say no it doesn't okayy because i can't SMELL! and when you can't smell, you definitely can't taste your food! like so wasted~ sheesh. angeline is rambling here. don't mind her.

Anyway, I'm going to the Sepang circuit this sunday. and why so? Free tickets to watch A1 Team Malaysia battle out their A1GP World Cup of Motorsport rivals on home turf HELLO! Representing Malaysia on the tracks are Fairuz Fauzy and his team mate, Aaron Lim. I'm so not a huge fan of motorsports or anything like that but i've a feeling this Sunday is gonna be pittstop of fun and excitement^^

my monday

Sigh..the things people would do just to receive attention. I read this online and it says in October, Travis Fessler of Florence, Ohio, broke the Guinness Book record by holding 11 Madagascar hissing cockroaches in his mouth for the mandatory 10 seconds. WTH. that's so ewww..grosssss! OMG the mere sight of cockroaches is enough to make me run eleven feet away from where i was standing and this guy can put 11 in his mouth. for 10 seconds summore. why don't you just chew them in la while you're at it. yuck yuck yuck

Oh speaking of Madagascar..have you watched Madagascar 2: Escape to Africa already? I have.

*spoilers ahead*

Escape 2 Africa is more of the same, with a little more emphasis on the life of Alex, the lion and his history.

You got to..MOVE IT! that song never gets old.

The penguins were the surprise hit of the movie, and are worthy of their own spin-off. Wonderful dialogue, witty undertones and a likable ensemble of memorable moments. If you ask me, they stole the entire show. The old lady from the first film makes an appearance over and over again, beating the animals senseless for some reason. But her character really just felt like a filler, I never got the impression anyone in the the audience enjoyed her character in the film either. ok maybe the few. i dunno.

There’s a message in this film somewhere, I’m confused as to what it is. Part of me says the film shouts “There’s no place like home” others said the message was “Family First”. I was left wondering if the movie was suggesting animals in captivity is cruel and wrong. Why else would they celebrate their release into Africa so openly?

It may not be that good a movie but I love the attention on the manes of the lions and the fact that Marty looks interestingly like Chris Rock.

There are some very funny references to air travel between the first class passengers, headed up by the very funny King Julien XIII, an overly energetic lemur, being fed grapes while others suffer in coach class. Sasha Baron Cohen voices King Julien with a comical Indian accent, and has some of the most hilarious moments in the movie!

But before watching the movie, we had lunch. at Just Thai. i do love thai food but i was feeling feverish with a really sore throat to add. i thought i'd have sushi but joyce's friends weren't up for it so it was just thai for me! joyce's friends or colleagues so to speak..i was so nervous before i met up with them. like i didn't know what to say or do because they looked cool and all that. but they were a friendly bunch and we warmed up pretty quickly=) so i guess there wasn't a need to feel nervous at all^^!

meet kareem (named after a basketball player!), daniel, neil the rockstar and (you know him already) joshua.

lookie pineapple rice

didn't care i was coughing, i still had cold dessert. promegranate and mango slices in coconut milk=)

joyce with her spiced up dish. it was difficult for her to finish it=p

curly wurly drink stirrer

before the movie, i saw this movie poster just in front of the concession stand. 'the vampire who admires me'.WTH

these kind of movies puts vampires' name to shame. poor edward having to live with this horrible reputation of his kind-_-

busy busy on the phone

after madagascar, we bought sushi (finally!) from jusco for dinner. we were about to attend a small concert later at Joshua's church. one night with Christian City Church or C3 in short. they made a stop here in KL before their huge performance at the Asia Conference 2008 held in Singapore. joshua is going to singapore to attend the conference. have a safe journey there!

this made me excited for a moment.

and why wouldn't it? it's hello kitty sushi! kawaii~

At city harvest church.

look at the crowd! so many people lining up..

i took loads of blurred images of C3 that night. dunno what's wrong with me..shakey hands.

I better not flood my blog with blurry images. so two photos here only. Among all the songs they sung that night, i liked 'Here we go' and 'Today'. nice nice=)

and no, I'm not christian, though a lot of people think that i am. firstly, i don't have a traditional chinese name and funnily, they say it's because of my appearance. oi meh.. -_- hehe.

argh so sick now. i have the flu, cough, sore throat, fever, the works. right now as i'm blogging, it feels like my fever is burning my eyes! i just sent my mum over to the pharmacy to get me some medicine..more diphenhydramine, anti-histamines, decongestants and lots of panadol! and my dad is cooking dinner.

i feel so loved.

till i received a phone call from my supervisor. she told me to bring her the hard copy of my thesis tomorrow morning. that's like 100 smtg or so pages to print! die x_x

sunset and paddy fields

Sekinchan. when i first heard the name, i was clueless on what or where it is. In actual fact, Sekinchan is one of the two major rice producing districts in the country. The other area is up north in the state of Kedah. Now tell me, did you know that? Tell me you did not know. ok so my geographical knowledge on Malaysia is not that much but hey, you learn something new everyday^^!

The vast paddy fields of sekinchan

The town has a unique dual character - it is both a fishing village as well as a rice producing area. Drive north along the main highway that cuts through the town and you will see vast expanses of rice paddies on your right. Take the left turn when you reach town and you see a busy fishing port. An interesting place, no?

skye's car. this pic does look like a toyota advertisement!

We had a wonderful one day trip to sekinchan, bumi bertuah of selangor darul ehsan. Got to know new friends - joshua and skye le during the drive there. really nice people xoxo. also with joyce, shi hoay and jonathan (i met him at the AYA awards). all aspiring photographers with their really huge, professional cameras except shi hoay and i. cheh like so inferior nia -_- we only brought our compact digital cameras. but we're gonna make full use of what we have!

skye le and jonathan. with these photographers, it's serious business.

individual photos now=)

this is skye. graphic designer extraordinaire!

and this is jonathan mondejar. I didn't know he was from the philippines till that day =) oopsie

miss shi hoay and miss fabulous herself

that's joshua in the middle. future dentist leh. studying in IMU also=)

angeline wonders where is joyce's photo. quickly scans through her album. none. i'll put it up when i find a nice one alright!

The ride from Bukit Jalil to Sekinchan took us like 2 hours to get there. A long ride but the scenic view of the gorgeous paddy fields up front was all worth it.

Lihatlah kehijauan, kedamaian.
Suatu senja di sekinchan seperti dibuai mimpi yang indah.

The average life of a banana tree is approximately 15 years. you have a long way to grow, my little banana plant.

Interestingly, each pseudostem of the banana tree is known to produce one bunch of bananas only and then it gives way to yet another new stem. Within these 15 odd years, the banana tree generates or produces a number of stems and several bunches of bananas.

the long broad leaf of the banana plant..now lifeless on the ground.

I don't know what this is..but they remind me of forget-me-nots'.

You'll find small shells like this between the cracks of dried mud along the irrigation river.

This is my favourite shot=) the yellow flower amongst its green background. i used macro for this.

close up on the flower. just because it's the prettiest thing i've seen there.

That's a coconut seed. The pattern reminds me of peripheral arteries ehehe

is this called the bunga kemboja?

What we plant in the soil of contemplation, we shall reap in the harvest of action

joyce told me to hold this pose when i was trying to make my hair tidy. i look so vain right? omg i know!

angeline doing 'kung fu' on joshua and the arrangement of his face makes it look like i punched him real hard^^ i don't know how he does it but awesome!

this screams HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL!

here's another one.

a doctor, a dentist and a pharmacist. we make a healthcare team already! oh ya..we have joyce, the lawyer in case the patients want to sue us or something^^ hehe

the reason why we went to sekinchan. to capture the sunset. the sky was in stunning shades of purple, pink orange and red..a few dark spots and a bit of yellow reflected in the river. gorgeous =)

i think jonathan and skye took hundreds of photos that day. will get to see them on facebook soon. can't wait! i want to see how the photos with humans turn out.

the malaysian dream

I mentioned about the AYA Awards two posts ago. And now, the spotlight will be on it in this post. The Asian Youth Ambassador (AYA) Dream Malaysia Awards Night was held at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Center (KLPac) on the 9th of November, a Sunday. Formal was the dress code for the evening and we had a very hard time over the week just deciding what to wear for that one night.

So what is the AYA Awards all about? Well, the AYA Dream Malaysia Awards is about our future - and the people who are farsighted enough to invest in it. The Awards is in line with AYA’s objective of building tomorrow’s leaders today and to create a better and brighter future for Malaysia by inspiring and inculcating responsible attitudes and actions in the hearts and minds of our youths.

So basically, the award serves as an encouragement to emerging individuals and responsible institutions to persevere in their dreams of improving the quality of life for themselves and for those around them.

*Angeline takes a deep breath*

Now that you all know what the awards is all about, let me bring you through the night through the lens of Nic's camera. All the photos taken at the AYA awards were by Nicholas Tan. I've never seen him without a camera in his hands.

The entrance to the buiding holding the awards ceremony. KLPac itself is like a museum that embraces art in every brick that holds the center together. You see a fusion of both modern and historical architecture that blends beautifully together.

The walkway leading to a Japanese restaurant. Shi Hoay is contemplating on having her wedding here at KLPac. Oi meh...think so far^^!

The throngs of people gathering outside in their best formal wear.

I made a couple of new friends that day. Really friendly people and we get along easily. This guy here is Joel. Everyone say hi to Joel. He's taking up filmography at a university in Singapore. An aspiring director.

Us girls.

There was a small exhibition of artworks at the ground floor. There is not a single painting that I don't like.

Joel in admiration of the paintings. The price of a painting *faint*

You might be wondering why the award is shaped like a durian? “Smells like hell but tastes like heaven”; the Durian is hard, rough and prickly on the outside but soft, gentle and pliable on the inside – not unlike many of its Malaysian fans. In order to get to the “fruit”, we need to work hard on the “shell”.

The Malaysian dream is a wonderful “fruit” to be desired but the Malaysian mentality is a hard “shell” to crack. To attempt to open up mindsets may most times be a painful experience – a thorn in the flesh - and it is easier for many of us to throw in the towel. But we must be patient and not lose heart. The fruit is well worth the effort.

As they say, “If there is a will, there is a way”- and there IS a way – a right way – to open up a Durian!

The emcees of the evening

A speech given by Kenneth Chin. If my memory serves me correctly, i read that he was the founder of the AYA organisation 12 years ago.

Other than giving the award for the most outstanding youth and youth-friendly company of the year, there were a line of performances that made it a memorable night. One of them was a contemporary indian dance by Ravi Shanker and his team of dancers.

Nevermind his team. I was more interested at Ravi Shanker alone. OMG he is so effing graceful with that muscular body of his *drool* he stole my attention at night. he was AMAZING! he choreographed the dance using Asmaradana as the song piece. The song was on the soundtrack of Puteri Gunung Ledang which starred Tiara Jacquelina and M. Nasir. The movie was 3 hours long but i enjoyed it^^

Ravi Shanker is right at the back, wearing a golden mask. At first I was impressed with his dance moves only...when he had the mask on. But when he took off his mask, i nearly fainted in delight!

There was the debut showcase of the AYA choir project with Mia Palencia. The choir killed the audience with their rendition of 'Man in the Mirror' which was originally sung by Michael Jackson. Oh i so wish you guys could hear them sing. It was sooooo beautiful!

Ada juga tarian melayu traditional dari penari-penari cantik JPNIN.

The Fusion Hip-Hop Dance by Lightbulb Productions in collaboration with Flava Fresh really stole the show. Awesome stuff going on there!

Aksi yang hebat lagi menarik

These are the nominees for the Most Outstanding Youth of the Year. Who will emerge the winner?

It was Dhinu Dhanveer Singh who took home the durian that night. Brought up in a family that’s on-the-go, he has traveled to various countries which include Papua New Guinea and Cambodia to build and sow into the local community. Serving as co-founder of a youth-run non-profit organization - SOLS24/7, he provides life-skills education to the poor and disadvantaged young lives in these areas.

A social worker working in East Timor & Cambodia and through sacrificial living that involved the trading of personal possessions, he strives to improve the quality of life and education through means of providing free education, which includes teaching the English language to the rural folk.

Now tell me why shouldn't he win that award? He so totally deserved it!

At the end of the awards ceremony, everyone gathered and showed off their dance moves. Wah see Ravi Shaker's muscles there under the light!

<
I am so glad I went for the AYA awards. Not only was I inspired to dare to dream and be responsible in fulfilling those dreams for the good of all, I met lots of people there as well. Lucky me. I love making friends, don't you?

Would you like to win the award for yourself? It's not really that difficult. All they are looking for are ordinary individuals:

- with extraordinary spirit
- who have excellent attitude towards life
- whose sacrificial contributions have made a real impact among their family and friends

easy, no? easier said than done, i suppose.

Anyway, we were soooo hungry by the end of it because we missed the refreshments served there you know! sigh. so we headed to jalan alor to have dinner. DINNER ok. not some other stuff that elizabeth would think of.

This is not just some chicken wing, you eat at the roadside. It is THE chicken wing. I tell you it's really that good!

ok fine. dinner photos..too little. everyone was busy eating. so yeah. excuse us.

We wanted to have drinks at Halo Cafe down at Sunway Pyramid. But unfortunately, happy hour was about over and so we couldn't order drinks. we wondered aimlessly around sunway pyramid. sad case like that.

but then. tadaaa. we took photos like these!

This photo here was taken just outside the ladies. aha! i really spoilt the mood now, didn't i?

green with envy. green tea. green wasabi. green grass. green turtle. they say green is the new pink! OMG. please la.

The god and goddesses of Greece in modern drab

fashion-inspired by blair cornelia waldorf. don't ask.

everyone. let me introduce to you the new face of Biotherm's new line of skin care for men. The model here is none other than the superlicious Jason.

Me likey this photo.

oogle this. rob pattinson as edward cullen. the vampire every girl wants. rob died as cedric diggory (harry potter and the goblet of fire) and rose from the ashes as edward cullen. like OMG hotness times two.

Isn’t it supposed to be like this?
The glory of first love, and all that. It’s incredible, isn’t it, the difference between reading about something, seeing it in the pictures, and experiencing it?
-Edward Cullen, Twilight, Chapter 14, p.302

Oh edward. Because of you, i too would be so eager for eternal damnation.

the cullen family. a family this good-looking. it's just crazy. but then again, they're not human.

the current wallpaper on my desktop. my vaio screams in delight.

Thesis mode

For those who are wondering whether Angeline has lost her touch in blogging well, think no more.

Last week was a very busy week for me. Besides spending most of my time working on my thesis, there was Quattro and the AYA awards which I attended last Sunday. Will be blogging on that once I get my hands on the photos taken that evening. There was a group photo taken with Mia Palencia. Wait till you see it posted up here!

So now i'm focusing on completing the rest of my thesis...what's left now are the nitty gritty details such as dedications and acknowledgements. I have a long list of people to thank and I don't know where to start -_-! I'm terrified that I'll leave someone important out by accident. like OMG~

Anyway, teaser photos.

Hello upper east siders. Gossip girl here. Your one and only source into the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite. And well what do we have here. Angeline and Jason walking up the runway? Don't bite more than you can chew, lil' J.

Just joking. I'm so into the series these days=p

Nice shot, Joyce.

That's Jason. my mirror image. you'll have to ask me why.

visit soon.

Modesto's and Deepavali

These are photos taken at Modesto's. Lunches with my girlfriends are one of the few things I look forward to=) especially now when sem8 is catching up. we'll be separated to different hospitals...and god knows how much time in between before we can get around each other again=p

Bread served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The combination makes a good appetizer.

This woman apparently eats here one too many times so she's left with the heavy responsibility of selecting and ordering our entree from the menu.

Because you see, everything looks so deliciously good in the menu.

We had a VERY hard time deciding what to order=p

Spaghetti with eggplant. Forgetting the eggplants, I attacked only the spiral pasta pieces. Eggplants me no likey. They're Elizabeth's favourite though. Actually, we order three other dishes (another spaghetti and two pizzas) but because I was so busy eating, I forgot to take pictures! oopssss

Dessert dessert yum yum

Dessert looks so pretty. Tiramisu in a cup...so cute.

The art of taking photos is a painstakingly beautiful process.

After lunch, I found a beautiful area that becomes our backdrop for our group photos. Lookie here. Nice, no?

Finally. All of us.

This photo looks very classy. Like we're one big family that sort of thing, don't you think?

There's more than this. But let's just leave some room for the other photos that are coming up from below=)

But first, i want to thank jackie for being there for me in times when i just need a friend to talk to or be fabulous with. Arigato for all your help in the research lab! heart you^^

that's a kum kum on my forehead. wanting to look as indian as possible.

The best parts of celebrating deepavali are fireworks, lights and indian food yum yum! Speaking of indian food, we were invited to Bavarni's (my classmate) open house this Saturday afternoon and the food there was simply delightful^^ Especially the...what supposed to be an orange cheesecake but the cheese was too soft so, it runs over the cake crumbles=) Anyway, still the nicest.

Here are some photos taken today. I update pretty fast, right?

Elizabeth and Chia Woon's top showed like the most cleavage..the eyes can only take SO much on a hot afternoon like this.

Mai likes his photos taken with girls at all four corners. It took me long to realize that..the illusion of being the most elligible bachelor.

5 pretty girls sitting in a row

By the time we got to the table for second helpings, the table was almost barren of food. But Bavarni's mum made some more and we ate even more!

This girl must have ate most of the cheesecake. Shin Yee, you bad=(

Summer colours are our choice for the afternoon

Groupie. That's Bavarni in the middle. Thanks for inviting us to your house!

Eddie busy showing Stephanie his Omnia. I'm waiting for a pink PDA to come out so that I can get my hands on it. And then imma dazzle my toy with pink jewels...just for show. it will be my piece of art i carry around personally. so chio.

superstarkiansin. eddie. feihing. specky people. hehe

this picture...and andy's expression...everything looks so wrong in here

-_-

ser li and I. We're partially tired from our little jog earlier in the day.

Tai Lo emo. Not knowing I was posing behind him in glee.

some of us played UNO with the kids...how entertaining=p

shin yee. next week. bangsar and starbucks.
